On regular workdays, I set my alarm to ring exactly at 5:30AM. Oftentimes, waking up at this time would show me a gleam of sunrise as a peak outside my window pane. That slight gleam of sunrise marks the start of another bright day. It wakes me up with its inviting glow up in the sky.
The past few days had been a different experience though. When I woke up, there was not a single trace of sunrise. It seemed like the night was still deep as I exited my room. The darkness made it hard for me to totally wake myself up.
I finished preparing for work and was about to leave the house. Not a glimpse of Mr. Sun still. I had to turn on my car's headlights that time because the road was still covered by darkness. Before, it was unnecessary for me to turn my headlights on.
Turning on the headlights is not a big deal though. It is not a daunting phenomenon. More so, there are positive effects of experiencing winter solstice. One of which is that I get to save gasoline because I do not have to turn on the air-conditioner anymore. I also get to walk without getting sweaty in my corporate attire.
I definitely love longer nighttime that daytime.
